Sushain Diabetic Diet Plan: For Type 2 & Prediabetes diet Control

Understanding diabetes

Diabetes is a condition in which the body either doesn’t produce enough insulin or can’t effectively use enough insulin. Insulin helps to process glucose, which is obtained from food. If the process doesn’t work properly, glucose builds up in the blood, leading to a high blood sugar level. Over time, excessive blood glucose levels can harm the body’s organs as the blood flows through them.  Additionally, glucose cannot enter cells without insulin; therefore, the body’s cells will not have enough energy. Thus, maintaining a stable glucose level is important, and that is possible through a balanced diet, especially.

Role of diet in diabetes

Healthy eating is an important way to manage Diabetes. A person with a new diagnosis of diabetes can reverse the condition by considering a diabetes diet. Diabetes can be effectively controlled with a balanced diet, frequent exercise, and weight control. A diabetic diet plan usually includes vegetables and legumes, lean protein sources, high fibre, low carbohydrate and fat products. Limit the consumption of added sugars, saturated fat, and high-sodium foods.

Maintaining a healthy Type 2 diabetes diet helps to prevent diabetes related health issues like kidney, heart, eye, and other complications. Eating a nutritious meal at set times is the foundation of the best diabetic diet plan. Meal timing helps in the efficient use of Insulin.

Key Points for Diabetic Diet Plan

1. Focus on Whole Foods

A diabetes diet includes whole foods such as Whole grains, fresh vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats should be the foundation of your diet.

2. Monitor Carbohydrate Intake

The type 2 diabetes diet also points out that carbs have the most immediate effect on blood sugar. One doesn’t need to cut them out completely, but learn how to manage portions and meal time is essential for a diabetes diet.

Good carbs: Brown rice, quinoa, whole oats, legumes, vegetables, and low-sugar fruits like berries and apples.

Bad carbs: White bread, pastries, sugary cereals, soda, and processed snacks.

The type 2 diabetes diet recommends half a plate with non-starchy vegetables, a quarter with lean protein, and a quarter with whole grains or starchy vegetables.

3. Choose Low Glycemic Index (GI) Foods

The glycaemic index ranks foods that raise blood sugar. Low GI foods (like lentils, whole oats, and most non-starchy vegetables) cause a slower, more stable rise.

4. Eat Balanced Meals

A balanced diabetes diet includes healthy fats and protein with your carbs, which prevent blood sugar spikes.

Good protein sources: Chicken, fish, tofu, eggs, Greek yoghurt.

Healthy fats: Olive oil, avocado, nuts, and seeds.

5. Stay Hydrated

Drinking water helps your kidneys flush out excess sugar through urine. Avoid sugary drinks and limit alcohol, as both can cause unpredictable spikes or drops in blood glucose.
